South Florida Outdoor Moms Meetup

I have a theory about South Florida moms.

We live somewhere that people travel thousands of miles to visit, and most of us are running so hard that we haven't actually been to the beach since March. We drive past the ocean on the way to school drop-off. We see the Intracoastal from the highway. We say "we should go this weekend" approximately every weekend and then Sunday night arrives and somehow we are meal prepping instead.

Meanwhile, there's a literal beach. Like, right there.

So consider this your scheduling intervention.

This Monday: Barefoot Moms Meetup at Hugh Taylor Birch Beach

On Monday, May 12, The Mothership Collective and Play Outside Co. are hosting a laid-back beach morning at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, near lifeguard station 15. It runs from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

There's a tent, music, and absolutely zero planned activities. This is a kick-your-shoes-off-in-the-parking-lot kind of morning. Come solo, come with your kids, come with a friend you've been meaning to see for three months. All of it works.

After the beach portion, anyone who wants to keep going is heading to The Grove at Hugh Taylor Birch for lunch. That park is one of the most underrated spots in Fort Lauderdale and if you haven't spent real time in it, this is a solid reason to start.

Bring your own water, snacks, and sunscreen. The rest is handled.

There's a specific kind of outdoor mom that lives in South Florida. She's not doing weekend ski trips or planning fall foliage hikes.
