New Detail, Same Mission: Helping Kids Dress Themselves with Confidence
At Play Outside, we’re always thinking one step ahead—especially when it comes to helping kids feel more independent and confident in the great outdoors. That’s why we’re so excited to introduce a small but mighty new feature on the back of every new ONE Shirt: the Tree-to-Tree Grip Guide.
It’s a simple graphic, but a powerful tool in helping kids dress themselves with more ease.
What Is the Tree-to-Tree Grip Guide?
On the back bottom hem of the ONE Shirt, you’ll now find a subtle visual: two tree icons shaped like arrows, connected by a line.
🌳 ↔ 🌳
This new detail is more than just a cute graphic. It tells your child exactly where to grab the shirt when putting it on—hands go on the trees! That way, they’re not twisting the shirt around, guessing which end is up, or getting frustrated trying to get dressed.
💡 Why it works:
-
Visual guidance helps with orientation
-
Reduces dressing-time meltdowns
-
Builds confidence and self-reliance
Designed with Real-Life Kids in Mind
This idea came straight from our own experience. Watching little ones struggle to figure out which way the shirt goes made us realize: a little visual cue can go a long way. Kids who are just starting to dress themselves need encouragement and tools that work.
As Adriana, founder of Play Outside (and mom of two), puts it:
"There’s nothing better than watching your child light up when they do something ‘all by myself.’ That moment of pride is the whole reason we added this detail."
Why This Matters Outdoors
Being outside is all about movement, mess, and momentum. The last thing you want is to stop the flow because your kiddo is tangled up trying to put their shirt on after swim time or muddy play.
✅ The grip guide makes for faster transitions
✅ Encourages kids to take charge of their own gear
✅ Keeps the adventure rolling with less adult intervention
Look for the Trees — and Let Them Lead
You’ll find the Tree-to-Tree Grip Guide on all new ONE Shirts moving forward, including the new women’s sizes launching this season. It’s a tiny detail with a big impact.
Because the more we give kids tools to do things on their own, the more confident they become in every part of their lives.
